Activities in Phuket : Tours, Sports and Fun

On water and on land, Phuket offers a big range of activities, sports, tours, learning courses and adventures assuring exciting holidays for all ages. In fact, with so much to do on and around Phuket, booking a longer stay may be advisable - just to give yourself time to fit it all in.

Scuba Diving

Diving is without doubt the most famous activity in Phuket. Various world-class dive sites are easily reached within shortest time and the quality of the water is unrivalled. Many dive companies are located at the West coast of Phuket, concentrated especially in Patong Beach, Karon and Kata Beach; however, some are relocating to Chalong, although these are predominantly the liveaboard companies, as opposed to the day-trippers. You can choose to go to neighbouring islands each of them with its own flavour. Dive instructors are available for almost every language, check with the dive company when you book a tour. All diving equipment is available for hire. Do remember to bring your proof of certification, or contact the dive company a few days beforehand and most are prepared to check with the certification agency. (More about Scuba Diving in Phuket)

Sailing

Enjoyed mostly at Nai Harn, Patong and Kata beaches. Toppers and dinghies are available at Patong. Catamaran, Hobie Cats and Top Cats are available at Kata Beach. You will also find sailing craft for hire at Bang Tao Beach, and sometimes at Kamala and Surin. The weather conditions at Thailand's west coast are mainly stable and assure maximum pleasure and safety while sailing the Andaman Sea. (More about Sailing in Phuket)

Snorkelling

There are a few islands not far from Phuket that offer world-class snorkelling, such as Racha Yai and Kai Nok Island. There is also good snorkelling on the reef off the northern part of Kata Beach, and Kamala has a small reef as well. There is a pair of islands accessible by longtail from Kamala, Surin, Pansea and Bang Tao beaches that go by the name of Koh Kala and Koh Waeo. It's about 15-25 minutes depending on departure point and while it is not possible to land on them it is a pleasant way to spend a morning or afternoon, and the snorkelling is pretty good there. (More about Snorkelling in Phuket)
